Helmut Löhr looks into the history of the text's tradition and shows how strongly it was influenced by the Jewish language of prayer during the time of the Second Temple. The prayer builds a bridge between early Jewish prayers - including the prayer texts from Qumran - and the liturgical tradition in the early church.
