The articles in this conference volume cover the development of Syrian Christianity from the 1st century AD up to the early Islamic period. The topics of the essays start with the Syrians in the New Testament and deal with issues pertaining to the beginnings of the ascetic movement in Syria, the history of the seats of the bishops in West and East Syria and the Syrian sources of Arab Christianity and Judaism.
