The classification of a comment as either a statement of fact or a value judgement is decisive in establishing the legitimacy of the comment in the German law for the protection and respect of a person's honor. However the delimitation of both types of statement is difficult, the results of the classification are hard to predict and on occasion scarcely comprehensible.
