Summary
Karin Schöpflin regards the Book of Ezekiel as a literary composition providing a prophet's fictitious autobiography. Through stereotyped patterns of speech, the readers continually witness the communication between God and Ezekiel which takes place while the disaster which had threatened Jerusalem finally materializes. Ultimately, the book's stylization focuses on the relationship between prediction and fulfillment. The fate of Jerusalem illustrates God's omnipotence and the effectiveness of his word.
