The contributors to this volume would like to make historiography as experience-related and experience-generating praxis understandable and in order to do so, take example from Ferdinand Gregorovius (1821–1891). The authors take a first ever look at Gregorovius' history of reception and thereby the cultural aftereffects and broader implications of his work outside the discipline.
The contributors to this volume would like to make historiography as experience-related and experience-generating praxis understandable and in order to do so, take example from Ferdinand Gregorovius (1821–1891). The starting point is the individual experience of historicity, which is isolated and examined with regard to its biographical preconditions and the history of thought in general. In a further step, the productive implementation and conveyance of this experience is sought out. Revealed here is the close connection between spacial perception and experience of time, something which characterizes Gregorovius' work. Finally, the authors take a first ever look at Gregorovius' history of reception and thereby the cultural aftereffects and broader implications of his work outside the discipline.
