Unternehmen Praxisgeschichte

This volume by Thomas Welskopp is a collection of articles on the history of capitalist modernity. The various essays deal with central aspects of a history of capitalist private enterprises and their corporate culture, of the class structure of modern societies, the history of work, especially in the context of the capitalist shop floor, of markets and of the history of consumption. The combining logic of all of these essays aims at a historical typology of institutions and social movements in the context of capitalism. Furthermore, their goal is to establish capitalism as a defining structure of modern society. All of the essays share a conceptual perspective which is rooted in the widely conceived theory of social practices. The author elaborates on this approach in four introductory essays, some of which have not yet been published.Vorwort
