Verbraucherschutz und Vertragsfreiheit im japanischen Recht

Marc Dernauer examines the structures and instruments of consumer contract law in Japan. He begins with a description of the historical development of Japanese consumer law, the legal and political motives for the legal regulations and the ideological basis in Japan. He then discusses those individual instruments of private law in Japanese law which protect the consumer from undesirable and unreasonable consumer contracts. He also explains the instruments of public law in national laws and in the charters of the regional Japanese authorities which serve to regulate the conclusion and the content of consumer contracts in Japan and compares the individual regulations in Japanese law with the corresponding regulations in Germany, if there are any.
