After the Second World War, constitutional states in Europe began to flourish, and their development took place in three epochs: from 1947 on, in the 70s after authoritarian government structures in southern Europe had been abolished and in the 90s after the dictatorships of the Communist Party had ceased. Christian Starck deals with the origins of the German Basic Law, which has always had a stabilizing influence, during German reunification as well, and with its interpretation and protection by the Federal Constitutional Court. In the second part of the book, the author explores the procedure of creating the constitution and its contents in the new federal states in Germany and constitutional matters in Lower Saxony. In the third part, he studies constitutional issues in Europe and looks at the effect of the German Basic Law on other countries.
