Verteilung und Umverteilung von Wohlstand

The debates on the inequality of income and wealth were reinvigorated by 2007's economic and financial crisis. Against this backdrop, Jürgen Faik sets out and discusses critically the tendencies of polarization in relation to the corresponding distribution of resources in Germany, taking into account perceptions of inequality among the populace. The author makes it clear that the observed polarization of wealth has already become a source of danger to political democracy in Germany and therefore puts forward solutions to reduce the existing inequality. These would include efficient target-group specific redistribution measures which should be financed by extended tax progression - and in particular through increased taxation of production factor capital.
