Ambiguity has always been an issue in philosophy. But because only the unambiguous can be known with certainty and philosophy has been devoted to knowledge and its truth, the ambiguous has been marginalized and devalued. In contrast Günter Figal argues for a philosophy that takes ambiguity seriously and essentially is a phenomenological, aesthetical and hermeneutical exploration of the ambiguous and its perceptional experience.
