Christof Landmesser discusses philosophical concepts and develops a concept of truth which makes it possible to show the integrative and critical function of truth both for New Testament studies and for theology in general. In doing so, he takes a very close look at Heidegger's and Bultmann's concept of truth and at more recent approaches in New Testament hermeneutics. He shows that a systematically well-founded concept of truth is indispensable for theology and scholarly exegesis and demonstrates how such a concept of truth can be put to advantage in religion and the humanities.
