This work focuses on the concept of moral truth and the question of whether and if so why moral judgements may lay claims of truth. The author incorporates the insights of contemporary theories of truth and metaethics as well as the large-scale classic concepts of truth, such as those of Hegel and Heidegger. Drawing upon observations from the philosophy of language, he defines the standards which vouch for the truth as the practice of language in art, culture and communication.
This work focuses on the concept of moral truth and the question of whether and if so why moral judgements may lay claims of truth. Under what circumstances are moral judgements true? What part is played by the question of moral truth for the binding force of a moral obligation? Why is the concept of truth important for our orientation in a situation in which moral action is required? In order to answer these questions, the author incorporates the insights of contemporary theories of truth and metaethics as well as the large-scale classic concepts of truth, such as those of Hegel and Heidegger. Drawing upon observations from the philosophy of language, he defines the standards which vouch for the truth as the practice of language in art, culture and communication.
