The growing complexity of the law is developing considerable centrifugal forces within both the overall legal system and private law. Thus, the binding force of a common theoretical ground is endangered. The contributions to this volume examine how this development can be countered by applying the general theory of private law. They begin by focusing on labor law and insolvency law. They do however also analyse the role which could be played by the dogmatics of civil law in constitutional law, in European Union law as well as in interpreting the European Convention on Human Rights.
