The Schriftenreihe wissenschaftlicher Abhandlungen des Leo Baeck Instituts is one of the leading series in the field of German-Jewish history. The first volume was published in 1959; since then more than 70 monographs and edited volumes have been published in the series.
The Schriftenreihe covers the period between the Enlightenment and the Modern Era with a special focus on European history of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; it includes classic approaches to social and political history as well as intellectual history, cultural history, gender studies, history of the body, scholarship, and musicology. Among the authors, names such as Selma Stern and Jacob Toury from the founding generation of the field are to be found, while contemporary research representatives include the likes of Christian Wiese and Simone Lässig.
