This volume investigates the daily Liturgy of the Hours in Lutheran territories and cities after the Reformation. It presents two case studies, one on the Berlin Residenzstift and one on the two Leipzig parish churches of St. Thomas and St. Nikolai, supplemented by essays on the local historical and liturgical-historical context.

What, how, and with whom we eat has been meaningful since antiquity. This volume offers interdisciplinary insights into ancient meal rituals, fasting, and dietary laws, and their influence today. It focuses on ethical, religious, and cultural interpretations in the context of food ethics and identity.

Integrating the Anabaptist movement coherently into their own historiographical concept of the Reformation challenged both Lutheran and Reformed scholars. Steffie Schmidt examines the extent to which these narrative patterns were questioned and possibly updated under the conditions of pietism and Enlightenment.

Cotton Mather's Biblia Americana (1693-1728) is colonial America's first commentary on the whole Bible. Perhaps best remembered for his writings on Salem witchcraft, the hugely prolific Mather was undeniably one of New England's leading Enlightenment thinkers.
