Charlotte Obeid analyzes the use of metaphorical language for educational purposes in the Hebrew text of Ben Sira, providing interpretative tools that not only contribute to a better understanding of Ben Sira's message but can be applied to the interpretation of metaphors in other writings as well.

This monograph analyzes the literary functions of Psalms 1-3. Eric McDonnell argues that Ps 1 and 2 constitute a two-part preface, added later to an earlier collection beginning with Ps 3. By applying the concept of »iterative play,« he demonstrates how ancient scribes reused traditional texts to serve evolving royal and Torah-centric agendas.

With his in-depth examination of ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Nābulusī's (d. 1143/1731) commentaries on Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf al-Sanūsī's (d. 895/1490) Creed, Hiroaki Kawanishi argues that the eleventh/seventeenth century Ottoman period was not a time of decline but of intellectual prosperity.

The contributors aim to enhance the understanding of the language of the Septuagint and biblical Greek in general. Taking into account the evolution of the research landscape in Septuagint studies, they show how specific linguistic features can be explained against the background of Greek literature and papyri of Egyptian origin.
