Alyssa Lehr Evans examines how Andreas Bodenstein von Karlstadt, a central player in the development of the Reformation in Wittenberg, became and continued to self-consciously develop as a reformer. She shows how Karlstadt's reading and reception of Augustine played a pivotal role in his development and approaches understanding Karlstadt by considering fundamental issues of authority and interpretation.

Amelie Rüppel analyses church interpretations of the financial crises of 1929 and 2008 based on empirical digital text analysis. Through three guiding narratives - sin, trust, and creation - she demonstrates how religious interpretive patterns shape economic action and inform theological-ethical reflections on responsibility and trust.

The contributors examine how wisdom traditions - from Amenemope and the Septuagint through Second Temple literature - shape New Testament theology, ethics, and communal identity. Seventeen essays trace wisdom motifs across the Gospels, Acts, the Pauline and Johannine literature, James, and Hebrews.

In the present volume, the manifold practice of biblical exegesis is taken up methodically and transferred into an integrative overall model of textual interpretation. Students receive the fundamental “tools” for a scholarly, reflective treatment of New Testament texts and their receptions.
