This volume contains three sources and studies drawn from the late medieval records of the Benedictine convent of Lüne near Lüneburg - the edition of the statute book with the rites of admission to the monastic community, the diary of the prioress Mechthild Wilde about her own election, and a study on the networks of the Lüne provosts, especially with regard to their acquisition of benefices.

Daniel Maier offers the first comprehensive reconstruction and contextualisation of the earliest extant Christian vision of Paradise, as preserved in the complex transmission of the Apocalypse of Peter. He undertakes a detailed analysis of all extant witnesses, including the often-neglected Pseudo-Clementine framework of the Ethiopic manuscripts.

Meike J. Röhrig examines the oracles concerning Egypt in Ezekiel 29-32 from a literary-historical and religious-historical perspective. She reveals how the image of Egypt that these texts produce develops from that of a chaotic foreign power into an other counterpart to YHWH, which differs from Israel and resembles Israel at the same time.

Drawing on three broad, cross-genre and cross-confessional studies on the use of key New Testament texts during the Reformation and the age of Confessionalization, Patrick Bahl positions interpretation history as a central sub-discipline of church history and explores its hermeneutical and methodological foundations.
