What we know as the Holy Land is not merely the biblical land. The contributions to this volume demonstrate how it - perhaps even more than through biblical texts - was created by extracanonical traditions of texts, rituals, and material culture.

Stefan Krauter interprets First and Second Timothy and Titus as writings that, in the second century, carried the Pauline tradition forward in linguistically and conceptually innovative ways, thereby shaping the image of the apostle Paul and his theology for centuries to come.
