Summary
The term »resistance« has recently been used by a wide variety of people and groups with very different aims who use very different means for achieving them. In general, speaking of »resistance« always serves to legitimize one's own actions and to enhance one's own cause. Based on a close reading of the story about »Naboth's vineyard« (1 Kgs 21) as a resistance story, this article attempts to establish criteria for a theologically appropriate use of the term »resistance.«
