Submissions

From Submission to Publication

Step 1: Prepare your manuscript
Please ensure that your manuscript is formatted according to the JITE specifications. We encourage you to utilize our templates. (see below)

Step 2: Submit your manuscript
Upload your manuscript to our online submissions portal. By submitting your manuscript, you agree to our publication ethics found here. There is no submission fee.

Step 3: Manuscript review and decision
If your manuscript is deemed to be suitable for review, it will be reviewed by two referees.
Time first submission to final decision: Approximately 10 weeks
Time final submission to publication: Approximately 6 weeks

After acceptance, please send the final version of manuscript to the Editorial Office (e-mail: johnson@mohrsiebeck.com) as a PDF file and as a LaTeX or MS Word file in order to allow for electronic formatting and language editing.

Step 4: Copyediting and typesetting
After you have sent the PDF and editable file versions of your manuscript to the Editorial Office, it will be formatted according to our in-house style and checked for errors in spelling, grammar, and citation.
Once copyediting and typesetting have been completed, you will receive an e-mail with a link to access the proof of your manuscript for review.

Step 5: Online First publication
After you approve the edits and comments that have been made to your article in the online platform, it will then be ready for publication. In order to make your contribution visible and readable as soon as possible, all accepted articles will be published in an Online First version visible on our website. These articles already have their final layout and are searchable and citable by their DOI.

Step 6: Publication within an issue
Your article will be assigned for publication within an issue of JITE. It will then be featured in both the print and the online version of this issue.

If your article is accepted for publication in the journal, you grant Mohr Siebeck Publishing exclusive publishing rights. These publishing rights include the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute the article and to make it publicly available; this also covers unknown types of use. You retain the right to reproduce and distribute the digital offprint of your own contribution for private use (e.g., by email), but not to make it publicly available (e.g., on the Internet, intranet, or repository). Offering to send the PDF via social media is prohibited. For articles in journals, exclusivity expires 12 months after publication. Accordingly, you may then  (a) reproduce the article elsewhere and distribute it in printed form; (b) grant another publisher simple reprint permission; (c) make the data from their own article publicly available in the printed version, provided this is not for commercial purposes. In all cases, the version published by Mohr Siebeck and, if available, the DOI must be referenced in full. The publication will be archived long-term with Portico and CLOCKSS to ensure its long-term availability.

After the issue is published, all authors will receive a free printed copy.
