Der vorliegende Band ist eine Sammlung von Forschungsbeiträgen, die - zu Ehren des Judaisten Peter Schäfer verfasst - in vielfacher Weise an dessen wegweisende Forschungsleistungen anknüpfen und sie weiterführen. Sie legt besonderes Gewicht auf die Dynamik von Kontinuität und Wandel in der jüdischen Gesellschaft, Kultur und Religion des antiken Mittelmeerraums und zeichnet die komplexen Vorgänge nach, in denen Juden, Christen und Muslime ihre gemeinsamen Traditionen auffassten und - in Dialog und Kontroverse - gegen einander abgrenzten. Diese Sammlung spiegelt damit die ungeheure Breite von Schäfers Forschungsgebieten und den nachhaltigen Einfluss seiner Arbeiten auf die wissenschaftliche Erforschung des Judentums wider, und sie veranschaulicht die innere Vielfalt jüdischer Kultur ebenso wie die wichtige Rolle, die der judaistischen Forschung im Kontext der Geisteswissenschaften zukommt.Volume 1
