The examination of Kant's view on the state-church-law needs first to uncover the philosophical foundations of his philosophical system. So a reconstruction of Kant's autonomy-based moral philosophy is followed by an analysis of his legal and political philosophy including the concept of law and the basic terms of dignity of men, political freedom and legal equity. An overview of Kant's philosophy of religion leeds to some key elements of his theory of state-church-law, especially the freedom of religion and the autonomy of religious communities. The conclusion flows into an ambivalent assessment of the mentioned parts of Kant's thinking.
