Beschreibung
Eckhart research is on a new, hitherto unknown path. It is undergoing editorial upheaval, especially because the German works are no longer being continued as an edition of the DFG. There are 79 unedited sermon texts which may be attributed to Meister Eckhart. A new digital edition could also reopen the debate on the attribution to Meister Eckhart. The three books discussed here pursue very different interests in terms of knowledge. The book »Meister Eckhart der Denker« (Meister Eckhart the Thinker) remains within the framework of the theological approach. Kurt Flasch´s criticism is directed against the categorisation of Meister Eckhart in a spiritual »flood« of mysticism. Volker Leppin presents Christian mysticism and its critical reception in a historical review.
