Zwölf Jahre Forschung zum Jeremiabuch (2011–2023)

This research report on the Book of Jeremiah covers the period from 2011 to 2023, building upon an earlier presentation in Theologische Rundschau (76 [2011], 131-179, 265-295, 415-475; 77 [2012], 1-53). Like that presentation, this report will be published in four parts. This text introduces key questions about the prophet and the prophetic book, drawing on well-established standard works. It discusses the various textual sources of the Book of Jeremiah in detail, focusing particularly on the Hebrew and Greek versions, as well as the Vetus Latina and Ethiopian translations. Additionally, it addresses diverse theories on the book's origin from essay collections and monographs. In doing so, it examines various editing processes and offers a fundamental critique of traditional growth models. According to the literature discussed, the origins of the book are particularly associated with the scribal milieu, which is portrayed in various ways.
