Les cultes aux rois et aux héros à l'époque hellénistique: continuités et changements

Dieser Band analysiert aus einer vergleichenden Perspektive die Entwicklung der Königs- und Heldenkulte während der hellenistischen Epoche in drei großen Gebieten der Antike: Ägypten, Westasien (Mesopotamien und Levante) und Griechenland. Während dieser Zeit haben sowohl die Königskulte in Ägypten und Mesopotamien als auch die Heldenkulte in der griechischen Welt wichtige Transformationen erfahren, die zum Teil mit der Entstehung und Entwicklung einer »hellenistischen« Kultur im Mittelmeerraum in Verbindung gebracht werden können. Der Band besteht aus einer Einleitung in englischer Sprache, die Ziele und Inhalt der Beiträge beschreibt, sowie aus dreizehn Aufsätzen in französischer und englischer Sprache, die in vier Hauptabschnitte gegliedert sind: Posthume Kulte und königliche Ahnen im alten Ägypten, vom Neuen Reich bis zur ptolemäischen Zeit; königliche Kulte während der ptolemäischen Zeit; Seleukidische Könige und königliche Kulte; Toten-, Helden- und Königskulte in Griechenland und im hellenistischen Mittelmeerraum.

This volume analyzes from a comparative perspective the evolution of cults dedicated to kings and heroes during the Hellenistic period in three major areas of antiquity: Egypt, Western Asia (Mesopotamia and Levant), and Greece. During this period, royal cults in Egypt and Mesopotamia, as well as heroic cults in the Greek world, underwent important transformations which can be linked in part with the emergence and development of a »Hellenistic« culture in the Mediterranean basin. The volume consists of an introduction in English describing its aims and contents, as well as thirteen papers in French and English organized into four main sections: Posthumous Cults and Royal Ancestors in Ancient Egypt from the New Kingdom to the Ptolemaic Period; Royal Cults during the Ptolemaic Period; Seleucid Kings and Royal Cults; Funerary, Heroic and Royal Cults in Greece and in the Hellenistic Mediterranean.
