Pentateuchal scholarship has changed radically in the past forty years. The re-evaluation of the compositional history of the Pentateuch that has taken place necessitates consideration of the theological implications that accompany this new perspective. This contribution first attempts to reconstruct the theological dynamics and logic involved in the literary development of the most important components of the Pentateuch, and then to draw conclusions from this discussion for the theology of the Pentateuch.
