The anthropology of Ps 51 is characterized by the awareness of total sin which can only be abolished by a re-creation of personal substance by God. Ps 51 conveys ideas to the individual religious person which in the prophecy concern the people as a whole. The anthropological concept of Ps 51 differs from a concept which binds sin to the finiteness of man.
