The Role of Phoenician in the Multilingualism of Syro-Anatolia during the 9th–7th Centuries BCE

This article will explore the evidence for the presence of »Phoenicians« and the use of
their language in the Aramean and Luwian polities of Syro-Anatolia during the Iron II period (i. e., 9th-7th centuries BCE). It will investigate both the written and archaeological evidence and will attempt to give an account for Phoenician language presence in Northwest Syria and Cilicia.
